Infection Prevention and Control Care Home Champions in Calderdale
The aim of the care homes champions group is to reduce the risks of infection to residents, relatives, visitors and staff by helping to create and maintain an environment that will support clean, safe care. The champion can be any member of care home staff with a passion for infection prevention.
The champions develop their IPC knowledge and other skills useful to assist this such as auditing and teaching. Each champion also completes a Preventing Infection in Care workbook. Once they have finished the workbook they will then be able to supervise the rest of the care team in completing a booklet too. The champions are supported by the care home manager, proprietor and care team. The meetings are led by Lynne Avrell (IPC Matron) and are bimonthly. If your care home doesn’t have a champion and you would like to join, please contact Lynne
